The 12th and Final SOS of spring

My journey of my blog is done.There was some ups and downs of doing a blog for my signs of spring journal,but it was all worth it and it was really fun.Now since it is almost summer I have to right a really good SOS entry so here it goes.


This weeks SOS i am going to write about the days staying lighter for longering,the ice cream truck,the Celtic's, pollen ,and how a lot of the channels say summer season.As you can see at the clock and the sun at almost 7:30 its still sunny out.Also my family and I have been walking a lot because its been staying lighter.It feels like ever softball game I have/go to I hear ice cream trucks so much.It was sooo torture when I was in the Memorial Day parade I heard the jingle ,and I couldn' get any.:(.Next, I have a sign of Spring that I am sure everyone is familiar with. Pollen!! After it rained Thursday night, the pollen was on the driveway, car, house, and especially in my nose! This is a sign of Spring because pollen comes from flowers, and since all the flowers bloom in the Spring, I sneeze so much because I am allergic. I called it a sneezing powder because most people are allergic to pollen.Now the Celtics.They have their 1st play-off game Thursday and the BETTER win.This is a SOS for me because I remember 2 years ago we went to the rally and it was a week after school gets out so it reminds me of of the end of spring.Same for the TV channels,they are saying Summer shows because spring is almost over;that is why it is are last SOS entry.Also my favorite part about the end of spring is school is over and the dragonflies.I couln't get a picture becuase i saw them when I was playing softball ,but te are so useful becuase the eat mosquites.Probally at a night softball game I get about 5 mosquites bites.Sometimes dragonflies are annoying and sound like bees but they are sooo helpful.The End!FOREVER!

The 11th SOS journal entry

Summer is getting closer,so its been getting harder.My 1st sign of spring that you use in summer is pool.My pool opened Monday.As you can see in the picture of my pool and the toys.Another sign of spring is he summer foods.Always at the end of spring my mom starts buying corn on the cob and watermelon.This was the 1st weekend she bought it.Another sign of spring to me is memorial day.As you can see the picture of my patch from last year.It reminds me of spring because I always  perform in the parade because of girl scouts.I also remember it because it's the last Monday of may and no school!Something that starts happening is robberies.It happened to my family this past weekend ,and the police said it been happening a lot lately.He said it was his sign of spring/summer.My last non-nature sign of spring riding my bike.I took my bike and scooter out for the 1st time on Saturday.I also have been playing outside a lot because of the beautiful spring weather the last couple days.Also the days have been getting longer because in the picture at about 7:30 its still bright out.

Now most my of observations are about the summer because it been starting to feel like summer.My first SOS is all the 1st communions.One of my friends sister just had her 1st communion over the weekend.Also I have to go to hebrew school twice a week and it always ends in the spring/may and it ended so that's how now that its spring.In the beginning of 6th grade our math teacher said we were going to be taking the math placement test for seventh grade in the spring,and we are taking it this week so it must mean spring is here.Another sign of spring is cleaning.This weekend my mom has been cleaning the house and making me help:( .Another school related observation is move up day.In 2 weeks the in-coming 5th graders are coming to visit the middle school and we are meeting the 7th grade teachers.Also the music teachers are starting to get us prepared for the spring concert.Now we are officially down with spring MCAs which happened last week.Another thing that tells me its spring is camp registration.My mom has been signing us up for different camps and we have been sending  in the medical forms and stuff.Also as you can see in the picture of the sky its been sunny the whole weekend.My last Sos is mother's day.It just happened 2 weekends ago ,and always near mother's day there are tulips  and other flowers blooming as you can see in the picture.Also we got my mom a mother's day basket and a flower.(see picture below.)

This week really felt like spring.First I went to rockport on sunday.It was my first time going to the beach all spring so it is actually spring.Also on sunday it was a beautiful day for the parker clean up.A lot of people helped and now you can really feel the feeling of spring.It looks great and all the flowers and mulch are a nice touch.Last week I said my mom ordored mulch and now we are making the yard look nice just like at school.Just in time for mother's day which also reminds me of spring is tulips.As you can see the purple and pink tulips make all the yard really pretty and mom's love them.Something that brings back memorizies is at my old house we had tulips growing in our front yard ,and we always use to pick them for my mom for mother's day.Another thing that tells me it's spring is math MCAs every year it happens in the spring.(Oh joy!!)Also we have the spring dance on friday and the spring chorus and band concert on june 2  and feild day on june 11 see a pattern??The worst part about spring happening is school being over.Oh trust me I sometimes wish we didn't have to go to school and that is was over ,but this year went by sooo fast and this was one of the best years.Another sign of spring is a robins nest and an egg.As you can in the pictures below the blue stuff on the ground is a robins egg and in the bush there its nest.Also as you can see the pink plants that look like hearts they are seasonal.They are taken in my friend's yard.She says around this time they start blooming.Also another thing that tells me summer is just around the corner to is my pool is opening in a couple weeks.That's all for this week,next week am going to try to get a picture of a butterfly.Also an update from a month or so ago the little bush in my yard is almost full bloom.

On the way home from school

This is my 8th sign of spring journal entry.For a couple of weeks now I have been seeing the gardens worst enemy....weeds.As you can see in there pictures below dandelions.It definitely means  spring is coming because weeds are are plants that sprout from seeds that you don't plant.So as you can see in this picture of flowers when people go out to plant flowers weeds are there,and everybody hates them because its so much extra work.The only good thing about weeds is they help our atmosphere;its know for being the green blanket.Also as you can see in the picture of the tree all or most trees are completely green.A few weeks ago I talked about the flowers on the trees blooming ,and now the have all fallen to the ground.Now that the weather was nice and people are planting flowers mulch is becoming a big thing.A few days ago my mom order mulch,And you can't use mulch without flowers.As you can some tulips stems and leaves are starting to form in my yard.Another sign that spring is coming is at softball practice my coach said"now i can finally say spring is coming because when i hear the ball bang the bat Iknow its spring."This is my sos #8 jornal entry.

In my neighborhood.

This week is my 7th sign of spring entry.This week all the trees around my neighborhood are in almost full bloom.I talked a little bit about the trees and flowers blooming,but this week the worst part of all is starting to kick in..... Pollen!Pollen is what fertilizes plant but it gives me killer alergy's.The last few weeks have been fun,but now i have been sneezing a lot!I love all the flowers and trees like you can see in the pictures blow,but i hate sneezing and taking yucky medicine.Also since the begining of spring the flowers have sprung a lot.As you can see,the picture with no or a few buds was taken in march.The ones with beautiful flowers were taken this passed week.Its a huge difference ,and  that is why the pollen is worth sneezing.

Another example that I found last week is the green grass.Now most of the lawns are green and not bare.As you can see in the two pictures below one is comelety green and the other is brown and has a lot of bare patches.My last example is the hot weater.As you can see there is a picture of how warm it actually was.Last wed it was 89 degrees.Its actually really funny,a week ago it was 89 degrees and this weekend it might snow.

A non-nature sign of spring is taking out the grill.About a week ago my mom has been grilling every night.T add to my signs of spring from a couple of weeks ago,I had my first softball practice on monday.Again the weather has a huge part in the changing from winter to spring becuase this was the second time the scheduled practice in a week ,becuase it was raining.

6th SOS journal entry(All the flowers are bloming,I guess march rain brings Apiril flowers!!!)

 

This week it has actually been real spring weather! I guess all of the rain and flooding helped, because as you can see in these photos below the flowers are really blooming. On the 4th signs of spring journal you saw pictures of flower buds starting to bloom. Now they are turning into beautiful flowers. Also the buds on the trees are turning in to flowers too. In my yard in Stoneham I had this huge tree and around this time we used to have them bud, and my mom got so mad becuase they always ended u all over the yard. Another interesting fact/sign of spring is that my mom's co-worker told me is the bush below never loses its leaves and in the spring the leave are all up and" happy”, and they start to grow purple flowers.(All you can see now is buds, but they will bloom soon..In the winter they are all droopy. Another sign of spring is the red sox opening game. (They won!!)This is a sign of spring because baseball is a spring sport. And since the 21of March it’s been officially spring. Another sign of spring is the hot weather. I actually started wearing shorts and flip-flops. This is a sign of spring because you won’t have to wear long pants or a jacket anymore. Also the weather is sooo nice you want to dress lights u won't get over heated. Another thing to do with the hot weather is the beach. On Saturday my friend sister went to the beach. Personally I think it is too cold to go swimming, but its defiantly good weather to sit and get a tan.Oh yah because of the sunny days this weekend my friend’s sister got a sunburn. Something is really changing with this environment because sunburns in April very surprising ,because this is new England we are talking about.My last sgn of spring is going to Florida on the 14th of April.We go every year,so its a tradition and whenever I come back it always feels like i never left.

5th SOS journal entry

On my school feild

This week it has been raining every day,so its been hard to find a sign of spring.On monday i went behind the school where Mr.Willaims took us and I found  more skunk cabbage.I chose this for one of my signs of spring becuase Mr.Williams told us it was a huge signs of spring.As you can see in the picture below the skunk cabbage is purple/maroon.You may wonder why it is called a skunk cabbage ,becuase in the picture it looks like a normal plant.Well,its called a skunk cabbage becuase it smells like skunk. Also at the school on monday I saw an American Robin which happens to be this weeks bird of the week.I saw it pulling a worm out of the ground.As you can sorta see in the picture the American Robin has a burgandy/cheastnut chest and and grey/black wings.Another sign of spring I found were little cabbages that were growing in my friends backyard.She says they grow every year around april,but she thinks they are eary because of all the rain.They are not close to being edibal yet,but in the picture below there are little  cabbage studs.Also it has been raining so much latley and my house got water in the basement.This is a sign of spring becuase you know what they say April showers bring May flowers.So lets just hope all the rain is worth it this year!

My last sign of spring this week is passover.This picture is a box of Matzah(Food you eat on passover.)

I took the pictures of the flowers blooming at 5:30 in my front yard.
My Dad took the pictures of the ducks at his work on tuesday.
I took the picture of the birds nest on march 15 in my frontyard.

ITS ALMOST SRING!!/ 4th SOS

I think this weeks SOS of spring was the easiest so far because there are only three more days till the exact day that spring starts.This week my SOS is flowers budding a duck,and  a bird's nest.A flower budding is a sign of spring becuae every year the yard is always blooming with flowers,and to me flower makes things pretty.Also in my opioin  spring is the most beautiful season when  flowers are blooming.Also last week I drove by my old house and every year near april or may tulips and other flowers are blooming,and noticed it blooming when I drove by.As you can see in the picture some buds are starting up;which is a good sign because its not even spring yet!Another SOS of spring is allanimals are coming out in the open.As you can see in this picture there are two ducks swimming in a lake.This reminds me of spring becuae a couple years ago we always used to go swimming in the lake and there would be ducks too.In my opinion ducks and other birds and animals tie together what everybody always looks for when spring is coming/here.My last example of SOS is a birds nest.Some people might think oh another birds nest,i see those all the time there not special,but htey are its helps birds of all sizes make spring a beautiful time of year.

The 3rd SOS journal entry/Its getting Warmer!!

Spring is getting closer and closer,and the last few days have felt like its spring.My example is the tempeture.As you can see in these pictures of thermometers over the weekend the tempeture was in the fifties.Some people might think thats cold(older fellows)but compared that its not even the first official day of spring,I think its defently warm.The tempeture also has to do with the snow melting.As you can see in the other picture below a sheet of ice/snow used to cover the whloe top of the pool cover.Over the weekend I took a picture of it and its almost completly gone.This happens because the sun has been out so much that its melting the snow and ice.

 
 
 
 
 

Another sign of spring that has to do with the beautiful weather and tempeture is was the first time since fall that we went outside during lunch. That to me is a big sign that spring is coming. I also walked home for the first time since fall today I walked home in only a t-shirt, not wearing a jacket.Another personal sign of sring is getting  my cleaets last weekend foe softball.I always get my cleats a few weeks before softball season.That means its just around the corner!
